ClearSign's new burner cuts pollution below 5 ppm NOx on multiple fuels, backed by DOE and a $1.65M grant.
ClearSign Technologies, with support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory, has successfully tested its ClearSign Core flexible fuel burner, achieving nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions below 5 parts per million across multiple fuels, including hydrogen, natural gas, and hydrocarbon blends.
The compact, retrofit-friendly burner uses internal flue gas recirculation, fuel-lean premixing, and a patented flameholder to meet strict emissions standards without post-combustion controls.
Funded by a $1.65 million SBIR grant, the technology enables industrial facilities to use diverse fuels while reducing pollution.
The next step is field deployment at operational sites to validate real-world performance.
