Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the 4.2 km Maharaj Prithu Flyover in Guwahati on March 10, 2026, the state’s longest and a major infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic on GNB Road.
Completed in 28 months at ₹852.68 crore, the four-lane flyover connects Dighalipukhuri to Noonmati, reducing congestion, travel time, and pollution.
It will open to vehicles on March 14 after a three-day public walkway period.
The government also announced land pattas for nearly 12,000 families in hilly areas and plans for a rotary at Guwahati Club, improved drainage, and future metro rail connectivity via the ring road.
