Arvind Kejriwal asked the Delhi High Court to transfer his case due to impartiality concerns over a judge's actions.
On March 11, 2026, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, respondent number 18 in the Delhi excise policy case, requested the Delhi High Court’s Chief Justice to transfer the criminal revision petition from Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma’s bench, citing concerns over impartiality.
He argued that the bench’s actions during the March 9 hearing—such as issuing a prima facie view that the trial court’s discharge order was erroneous without hearing the accused and granting interim directions affecting Enforcement Directorate proceedings without the ED being a party—raised fairness concerns.
Kejriwal emphasized that the request, based on institutional integrity rather than personal bias, aims to preserve public confidence in the judicial process.
The case, titled CBI v. Kuldeep Singh & Others, remains pending, with a hearing scheduled for March 16.
