Anna Adams has been appointed Solicitor-General and Chief Executive of the Crown Law Office, effective 11 May 2026, announced by New Zealand Attorney-General Judith Collins. With 28 years of public law experience, Adams has served as lead counsel in over 100 cases across New Zealand’s courts, including major coronial inquests. She previously chaired a national law firm, led public and health law practice at Meredith Connell, and holds governance roles, including on PHARMAC’s board. A Yale Law School LLM graduate and University of Auckland law degree holder, she will advise the Prime Minister, Attorney-General, and Cabinet as the Crown’s principal legal adviser. Collins praised her integrity and leadership. The role is a constitutional position appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the Governor-General.
