A UK police officer denies raping a woman in 2018, claiming she doesn’t remember the night.
A Devon and Cornwall Police constable, Fiona Anderson, 33, is on trial at Bristol Crown Court for two counts of sexual assault allegedly committed in Cardiff in 2018.
Prosecutors say she entered a woman’s bedroom after drinking together, persisted in sexual acts despite repeated refusals and claims of being too drunk, and demanded the woman say “yes” while stating, “I know the law.” The victim, who delayed reporting due to fear of retaliation as a serving officer, said she did not consent.
Anderson, suspended since March 2023, denies the charges and claims her memory of the night is unclear.
The trial continues.
