UK ethnic minority representation in top firms hit record highs, but progress stalled for Black professionals and private companies.
UK companies have made progress in ethnic minority representation, with 20% of FTSE 100 board roles and 16% of FTSE 250 roles held by ethnic minorities—both record highs—according to the 2025 Parker Review.
The number of ethnic minority chief executives in the FTSE 100 reached 14, and 98 of the 100 largest firms now have at least one ethnic minority director.
However, black representation declined at board and senior management levels, and only 42% of the UK’s 50 largest private companies meet their 2027 diversity targets, down from 48% in 2024. Review leaders emphasize ongoing corporate engagement but stress that significant further improvement is needed to meet self-set goals.
