Two men were charged after a March 5 clash with Mayor Lurie’s security detail in San Francisco’s Tenderloin left two officers injured.

Phillips faces multiple charges, including resisting an officer and contempt of court due to a prior stay-away order, while Simon is charged with obstructing an officer.
The incident, captured on video, involved a physical struggle at Cedar and Larkin streets, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to two officers, one of whom was hospitalized.
The San Francisco Department of Police Accountability is investigating the officers’ use of force, and the mayor, who was unharmed, supported prosecution and reiterated his focus on public safety, law enforcement, and behavioral health initiatives.
Both suspects are expected to be arraigned soon.
