Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced plans to modernize the state’s police force to combat rising cybercrime and drug offenses, forming a committee led by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao to review reforms in technology, recruitment, and training.
He stressed the need for technical expertise, continuous staff development, and adaptive strategies like population-based policing, warning against complacency.
The government pledged funding for police upgrades, performance-based postings, and annual retreats starting in December.
The reforms support the "Telangana Rising 2047" vision, aiming for a $3 trillion economy by 2047 through development of the CURE region, while learning from urban challenges in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.
