Nebraska introduces new driver licenses and IDs with state symbols, black-and-white photos, and enhanced security, starting March 2026.
The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles has launched a new driver license and state ID design featuring Nebraska-themed imagery like the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, prairie cattle, wheat fields, honeybees, and the Wildcat Hills.
The updated cards use black-and-white photos to enhance facial recognition and reduce fraud, along with advanced security features including anti-counterfeiting technology and microprinting.
Issuance began in March 2026 at select locations, with a full rollout by mid-April.
Existing licenses and IDs remain valid until expiration, and residents are not required to replace them early.
