Jan De Nul expands subsea cable fleet with new eco-friendly vessels to boost offshore energy grid connectivity.
On March 10, 2026, Jan De Nul announced plans to expand its subsea cable fleet with a new trenching support vessel, built in China based on an Ulstein design, featuring a subsea robot for burying cables up to five meters deep.
The vessel will use Ultra-Low Emission Vessel technology, filtering up to 99% of nanoparticles and supporting biofuel and future methanol use.
A second vessel is being converted for shallow-water work.
These additions, part of four new or converted vessels, support growing offshore energy infrastructure needs, enhancing grid connectivity and energy independence.
