India's PM congratulates Nepal's RSP leaders after their projected landslide win, signaling stronger bilateral ties.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Rabi Lamichhane and Balendra Shah of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) on their electoral victory, affirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties.
The RSP is projected to win around 124 of 165 First-Past-the-Post seats and approximately 60 of 110 proportional representation seats, potentially securing a two-thirds majority in Nepal’s 275-member House of Representatives.
Lamichhane expressed gratitude and pledged cooperation with India on connectivity, energy, trade, and cultural tourism.
Other major parties are also expected to cross the 3% threshold for proportional seats.
The results mark a significant political shift in Nepal.
