Indian tennis player Vaishnavi Adkar, guided by Grand Slam champion Rohan Bopanna, achieved a breakthrough in 2026 by winning the ITF W35 Kalaburagi title and reaching the W100 Bengaluru final—the first Indian woman to do so since 2009. Her success, aided by a Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association wildcard, lifted her ranking from No. 690 to a career-high No. 466, with a top 400 entry expected. Adkar, now on India’s Billie Jean King Cup team, credited improved serve, return, and fitness, along with a renewed love for the game, for her progress. She also highlighted her parents’ support and overcoming an ACL injury as key to her resilience and growth.
