Indian authorities seized ₹29.76 crore in assets linked to a Hyderabad doctor accused of running an illegal surrogacy and child trafficking ring.
The Enforcement Directorate has provisionally attached 50 properties worth ₹29.76 crore, estimated at ₹50 crore, linked to Dr. Pachipalli Namratha, a Hyderabad doctor accused of running an illegal surrogacy and child trafficking ring through her clinic, Universal Srusthi Fertility and Research Centre.
The assets, including land, flats, and a hospital, are in her and her sons’ names.
The ED arrested her on February 12 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, citing a scheme that allegedly exploited vulnerable women, forged birth records, and used client funds to pay for infants and agents.
Deliveries occurred in Visakhapatnam after her Secunderabad clinic lost its license.
The investigation, ongoing, reveals the operation ran since at least 2014 despite prior legal issues.
