GWM is launching the Ora 5 in Thailand with electric, plug-in hybrid, and gasoline versions, with Australia consideration pending efficiency standards.
GWM has confirmed the Ora 5 small SUV will launch in Thailand with electric, plugless hybrid, and gasoline-only powertrains, a shift from its initial all-electric plan. The hybrid uses a 1.5L engine and two-speed transmission, claiming 4.5L/100km fuel efficiency, while the combustion model features a turbocharged 1.5L engine and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The vehicle, built in Thailand for right-hand drive markets, is under consideration for Australia, though its availability there—especially the hybrid version—depends on meeting the country’s New Vehicle Efficiency Standards that favor electric and plug-in models. Multi-power versions are set to launch in China in April.
