Glenn Wilhelm has bought the historic Berkley Theater for $4 million and plans to reopen it as the BERKLEY Entertainment Complex, a 880-capacity concert venue, by late May 2026.
The building, originally opened in 1941 and last used as a movie theater until 1993, previously housed Perry Drugs and Rite Aid before closing in 2024.
Wilhelm, who also owns The Roxy in Rochester, is investing in renovations including a stage, bar, and acoustic upgrades, while preserving the theater’s iconic marquee.
The venue will host live music, comedy, drag queen bingo, and community events, with plans to partner with the local school district.
The project has city approval and aims to revitalize downtown Berkley’s cultural scene.
