FDA warns against eating Manila clams and oysters from 9 states due to norovirus risk.
The FDA has warned restaurants and retailers in nine states—Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Oregon, and Washington—to stop selling or serving certain Manila clams and raw oysters due to possible norovirus contamination.
The affected shellfish were harvested between February 13 and March 3, 2026, by the Lummi Indian Business Council and Drayton Harbor Oyster Company.
No illnesses have been reported, but norovirus can cause vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, fever, and body aches, with symptoms appearing 12 to 48 hours after exposure.
The FDA is working with state officials to trace distribution, and consumers are advised not to eat the products.
This follows a similar recall last month involving oysters from British Columbia.
