Canada awards BTI a contract to build a neutron radiation monitor for deep space missions.
Bubble Technology Industries has won a Canadian Space Agency contract to develop the CANS system, a space radiation monitor for measuring neutron radiation in deep space.
The device will autonomously collect data to help assess astronaut risks during long missions beyond Earth’s atmosphere, where harmful radiation exposure increases.
BTI’s Bubble Detector technology, used in over two dozen space missions and on the International Space Station, will power the system.
The company, founded in 1988, also provides radiation detection solutions for nuclear, military, medical, and security applications globally.
The project highlights Canada’s continued leadership in radiation detection and space safety innovation.
