Cambridgeshire County Council has approved additional funding for drug and alcohol treatment services, following a national increase under the Government’s National Drug Strategy.
At a March 5 meeting, the Adults and Health Committee backed expanded support, including community-based care, to improve access for adults aged 18 and over.
The funding, drawn from the council’s public health budget and external sources, supports a seven-year, up to £52.8 million contract with Change Grow Live (CGL), effective April 1, 2026, for harm reduction, recovery, and employment pathways.
This follows a December 2025 government commitment to boost funding for previously underfunded local authorities.
