A 31-year-old First Nations man was charged with murder after a 36-year-old man was shot and killed in Melbourne’s west.
James Slater, 31, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on a murder charge after a 36-year-old man was fatally shot in a suburban street in Strathtulloh, Melbourne’s west.
The incident occurred Thursday at an intersection where the victim died at the scene following a confrontation involving the victim, a 63-year-old man, and Slater, who was arrested nearly 95 kilometers away in Skye on Sunday.
Slater, identified as a First Nations person, was remanded in custody without a bail application and did not enter a plea.
No further details were provided during the brief hearing.
His next court date is July 27.
