Two crew members remain missing after the fishing boat St Joseph sank in the Arabian Sea off Kerala’s Kollam coast on Saturday, following a collision with the Panama-registered cargo ship MT Solis.
The vessel, carrying 11 fishermen from other Indian states, was engaged in deep-sea fishing about 120 nautical miles offshore when it was struck.
Nine crew members were rescued by the involved ship and transferred to Indian Coast Guard vessels, then brought to Vizhinjam for medical care and questioning.
Search operations continue for the two missing, while the Directorate General of Shipping has launched an investigation into the incident.
A formal case will be filed after statements are collected from the rescued crew.
