The Titusville Police Department has activated automated speed cameras in six school zones, starting a 60-day warning period during which speeding drivers receive notices but no fines. After this phase, citations of $100 will be issued to those exceeding the speed limit by 11 mph or more, with each violation requiring officer review. Cameras are active at six schools, with plans to expand to four more. The program, aimed at improving student safety, comes as similar efforts in Osceola County and St. Cloud were paused over equipment and placement concerns.
