Stearns County seeks public input on updating Quarry Park’s master plan, addressing overcrowding, access, and trail expansion.
Stearns County is gathering public input on a new master plan for Quarry Park and Nature Preserve, its first update since 1995, with an open house on March 11 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Waite Park Service Center.
The 757-acre park, visited by over 100,000 people annually, faces growing concerns over overcrowding, especially at swimming areas, parking fees, and limited ADA access.
Based on feedback from over 700 survey respondents, key priorities include expanding hiking, skiing, and mountain biking trails, improving signage and restrooms, enhancing natural resource protection, and adding more events.
A visitor center remains a divisive issue.
Officials are evaluating options like new amenities, additional swimming areas, or better communication about peak visitation times to balance public demand with conservation and accessibility.
El condado de Stearns busca la opinión del público sobre la actualización del plan maestro de Quarry Park, abordando el hacinamiento, el acceso y la expansión de senderos.
