Stan French, a 70-year-old North Bay volunteer and amateur musician, has advanced his song “Being a Boomer Ain’t Bad” to the semifinals of the Nashville-based International Songwriting Competition in the Comedy/Novelty category.
Released in May 2025, the track, which he wrote as a charitable effort, is being judged on melody, composition, originality, and lyrics, with a $25,000 grand prize pledged to charities including One Kids Place, the Alzheimer Society, and the VON Smile Program.
Available on major platforms and his website, the song’s streams and views have grown steadily, and French hopes the recognition will raise awareness and support for his causes.
Finalists will be chosen by judges and public voting.
