The Kirkland Lake Rotary Club’s annual $60,000 fish derby succeeded despite rain and ice, with over 200 participants catching and releasing 295 fish.
No tagged fish were found, but the event drew strong community support.
Five anglers won $1,000 each in the pickerel category, and five others earned $1,000 in the pike category.
The $5,000 elimination draw was split between Barry Surtees and Guy Landry.
Club president Mike Guimond highlighted the positive turnout and enthusiasm for next year’s event.
