Microsoft launches AI tool Copilot Cowork with Anthropic’s tech for complex tasks in Microsoft 365, expanding AI capabilities and reducing OpenAI reliance.
Microsoft has launched Copilot Cowork, an AI feature powered by Anthropic’s technology, enabling autonomous handling of complex tasks like data analysis, app building, and meeting prep within Microsoft 365.
The cloud-based tool, part of the E7 suite, offers enterprise security and data control, differing from Anthropic’s local model.
It’s in pilot testing and will roll out via early access in March.
Microsoft also expanded access to Anthropic’s Claude models in Copilot Chat, reducing reliance on OpenAI.
The company introduced Agent 365, a platform to manage AI agents, launching in May.
These moves strengthen Microsoft’s AI strategy amid rising competition and investor concerns over dependency on single providers.
