Administered by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, the initiative supports eight counties with funding and technical assistance for fencing, water systems, and cover crops, totaling $15 million—$11.7 million from the state—through Iowa’s Water Quality Initiative.
The program, extended for three years, enables farmers to adopt conservation practices that enhance land sustainability and cattle management, with participants reporting reduced erosion and better farm viability.
