India and Japan end joint military exercise Dharma Guardian 2026 with focus on counter-terrorism and regional security.
The India-Japan joint military exercise Dharma Guardian 2026 concluded on March 8 in Chaubattia, Uttarakhand, after two weeks of training focused on counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, and combat in complex terrain.
Conducted alternately since 2018, the annual exercise enhanced interoperability between the Indian Army and Japan’s Ground Self-Defense Force, with a key 48-hour simulation, ASAHI SHAKTI, testing joint responses to a terrorist threat using drones and other modern surveillance tools.
Senior military officials from both nations attended the closing ceremony, reaffirming their strategic defense partnership and shared commitment to regional stability.
