A Dhaka University student, Rahid Khan Pavel, alleged he was brutally beaten for hours on March 9, 2026, by members of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti after being falsely accused of belonging to the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League.
The attack, reportedly involving bricks, a motorbike lock, and belts, occurred during sehri at BUET and continued across DU campus and near Shahbagh Police Station, leaving Pavel injured and his belongings stolen.
He denied any political ties, and university officials confirmed his name was not on a list of 403 individuals linked to the July 2024 uprising.
Jatiya Chhatra Shakti claimed Pavel was caught distributing BCL posters and resisting arrest.
Police said he was in custody but no formal case has been filed.
Pavel received treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
