Victoria MacKenzie-Childs, co-founder of the whimsical MacKenzie-Childs brand, died on March 4, 2026, at 77.
She and her husband Richard founded the company in 1983 on a lakeside estate in New York’s Finger Lakes, transforming a dilapidated farmhouse into a creative hub through decades of renovation.
Their signature playful designs gained global acclaim, and though they sold the brand in 2001, they continued creating under Richard and Victoria Emprise.
The company was later revived and is now owned by Aurora Brands, which also holds Patience Brewster Inc.
The original estate remains a destination for visitors and hosts an annual barn sale.
Victoria is survived by her husband and daughter, leaving a lasting legacy in design and craftsmanship.
