On March 1, 2026, nearly 20 rescuers from the Keswick Mountain Rescue Team responded to a call after eight walkers were reported stranded on Blencathra’s main summit ridge, not on the narrow Sharp Edge path.
The operation, lasting two hours and 11 minutes, followed communication delays and used a "PhoneFind" signal to locate the group, who were guided to safety via Blease Fell.
This marked the second rescue in the same area within 24 hours.
Authorities urged hikers to assess their skills and preparation before heading into the fells.
