Jamaica’s Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 4th Global Tourism Resilience Day in Nairobi, Kenya, for his leadership in building global tourism resilience frameworks.
He championed proactive crisis preparedness, sustainable growth, and international cooperation, launching a new book on digital reputation resilience and advocating for a Global Tourism Resilience Fund.
The event, hosted by Kenya and marking the first time the summit was held outside Jamaica, emphasized the need for stronger governance, cybersecurity, data-driven strategies, and public-private partnerships to protect tourism economies from climate, cyber, and geopolitical threats.
Bartlett’s work, supported by the UN-backed Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre, continues to shape global standards for resilient tourism.
