On International Women’s Day 2026, the Merck Foundation, led by CEO Dr. Rasha Kelej and supported by African and Asian First Ladies, marked 14 years of advancing women’s empowerment through education, healthcare, and research.
The foundation highlighted over 2,500 scholarships across 52 countries—half awarded to women in medicine—and ongoing programs like ‘More Than a Mother,’ ‘Educating Linda,’ and STEM initiatives.
It also emphasized efforts to combat infertility stigma, end child marriage and female genital mutilation, and promote gender equality through creative campaigns and partnerships with governments and health ministries.
