Dilworth Karaka, co-founder and lead singer of New Zealand’s Herbs, has died at 75.
He helped create the band in 1979, blending reggae with Polynesian traditions and activism.
The group, known for hits like “Slice of Heaven” and the 2019 documentary *Herbs: Songs of Freedom*, was inducted into APRA’s Hall of Fame in 2012.
His body will lie in state at Ōrākei Marae on March 9, followed by services at Whaatapaka Marae on March 10 and 11, with burial at the latter site.
