The Chatham-Kent Black Excellence Awards, April 18, honor Black leaders in various fields; nominations close April 9.
The Chatham-Kent Black Excellence Awards and Gala, scheduled for April 18 at the Everest Convention Centre, is accepting nominations for individuals who have made significant contributions to the Black community in education, business, arts, athletics, wellness, social justice, and youth leadership.
Presented in partnership with several cultural and historical organizations, the event features awards named after influential Black leaders, including Dr. Sophie B. Jones, Hugh Burnett, and the Chatham Coloured All-Stars.
Nominations close April 9 and can be submitted online.
The evening includes a black-tie dinner, awards ceremony, and cultural entertainment, supported by Enbridge, Hydro One, TekSavvy, and Mainstreet Credit Union, with additional sponsorship opportunities available.
