Bangladesh will launch a monthly honorarium program on March 14, providing financial support to religious workers including imams, muezzins, khadems, temple priests, monks, and church clergy.
Imams will receive Tk 5,000, muezzins Tk 3,000, and khadems Tk 2,000 per month, while temples, monasteries, and churches will each get Tk 8,000 monthly.
The initiative, part of the ruling party’s election promises, will begin with a pilot phase covering 4,908 mosques and 990 temples, with payments made directly to Sonali Bank accounts by March 15 to prevent corruption.
Additional festival allowances will be issued during religious holidays.
