An 18-year-old student was arrested for threatening violence at his closed school, leading to heightened security.
An 18-year-old student from Forest Lake Christian High School in Auburn, Anthony Bondarenko of Roseville, was arrested on March 4 by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office on a felony charge of criminal threats under California law.
School officials reported he had expressed intent to carry out a violent act at the school the following day, prompting a response despite the school being closed.
With help from the Rocklin Police Department, deputies detained Bondarenko in a movie theater parking lot and booked him into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
Authorities emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious behavior and encouraged anonymous tips through the sheriff’s website or tip line.
The incident led to increased security for an evening school event.
