A 15-year-old boy in Dublin has been sentenced to five months in custody for a 16-month motor crime spree involving 54 charges across multiple locations, including Walkinstown, Drimnagh, Crumlin, and Templeogue.
The offences, committed between August 2024 and January 2026, included vehicle theft, criminal damage, breaking into cars, and possession of theft tools, with incidents involving up to €1,000 in stolen cash and multiple break-ins in a single day.
The court heard the crimes were linked to cocaine use, negative peer influence, and struggles with accessing support services.
The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, showed remorse while in custody and began to recognize family and rehabilitation.
Judge Brendan Toale imposed a concurrent five-month detention sentence followed by a five-month probation period requiring compliance with Probation Service directions, with the sentence backdated to January.
The boy was accompanied by his mother and presented a statement from detention.
