WSU allocates $20M to athletics for 2027 to offset revenue loss from Pac-12 changes.
The Washington State University Board of Regents approved an $20 million one-time investment from operating funds into athletics for fiscal year 2027 to address a projected budget shortfall caused by reduced revenue following the Pac-12's restructuring.
The 8-1 vote, held on the Vancouver campus, aims to stabilize athletic operations, support WSU’s transition to the Pac-12, and boost student recruitment and institutional pride.
University President Betsy Cantwell emphasized the funding supports athletics without compromising academic priorities and provides time to expand revenue and fundraising.
The full FY27 budget, including the allocation, will be reviewed in May 2026.
