A UK farmer got 15 months in prison for letting dogs severely injure a teen girl in 2021.
Matthew Brown, a 52-year-old Rochdale farmer, was sentenced to 15 months in prison and banned from owning dogs for five years after being found guilty of allowing two dogs to attack a 17-year-old girl at Carr Farm in April 2021.
The girl suffered a severe, permanent crescent-shaped scar and ongoing psychological trauma.
Brown, who lied to emergency services and searched online about legal consequences, claimed the dogs belonged to his former partner.
The case, tried at Manchester Crown Court in February 2026, followed a separate 2022 incident at the same farm where three-year-old Daniel Twigg died in a dog attack; his parents were later jailed.
The court focused solely on the 2021 attack during sentencing.
