flag A UK court increased Govinder Singh's sentence to 10 years for a drunk-driving attack that caused life-altering injuries after a wedding fight.

Govinder Singh, 28, of Leicester, had his prison sentence increased to 10 years on March 6, 2026, after the UK Court of Appeal ruled his original seven-and-a-half-year term was too lenient. The change followed a referral by Solicitor General Ellie Reeves KC MP under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme. Singh had pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and wounding with intent after crashing his car into a crowd outside a wedding in May 2025, injuring four men and a woman with life-altering injuries. The attack followed a fight after his drunk brother was ejected from the venue. Singh fled, hid the car’s licence plates, and lied about who drove the vehicle. The court emphasized the deliberate and reckless nature of his actions, calling the original sentence “plainly insufficient.” He was also banned from driving for 12 years.
