St. Peter’s Nursing Home in Albany will close in 2026 after 70 years due to $60M in unaffordable renovation costs, with patients transferred and staff offered new roles.
St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany will close later this year after nearly 70 years of operation due to $60 million in estimated renovation costs deemed unaffordable.
The 170-bed facility, part of St. Peter’s Health Partners and the Eddy Nursing Homes system, currently serves 96 long-term and five short-term patients, all of whom will be transferred to other care providers, with priority placement at other Eddy locations.
The closure, approved by the state Department of Health, will take three months, with a community meeting scheduled for March 20.
Staff will receive transition incentives and are offered positions across the health system.
This follows recent closures of other regional nursing homes due to financial and infrastructure challenges.
