A Shreveport man was indicted for threatening the Speaker of the House and President via social media.
A 31-year-old Shreveport man, Justin Chadwick Butler, was indicted on March 3, 2026, on three federal counts related to cyberstalking and threatening the Speaker of the House and the President.
Authorities say he used social media to post violent messages, including calls for the leaders’ deaths and direct tagging of the Speaker’s accounts.
The investigation involved the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and Capitol Police.
If convicted, Butler could face up to five years in prison per count.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller stated threats against public officials undermine democracy, and the indictment is an accusation only, with Butler presumed innocent until proven guilty.
