Over 120 global delegates met in Dharamshala to demand Tibetan autonomy, religious freedom, and dialogue with China amid renewed focus on the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation.

Over 120 representatives from 32 countries attended a three-day conference in Dharamshala, India, hosted by the Core Group for Tibetan Cause-India from March 7 to 9, 2026, focusing on the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation, human rights in Tibet, and colonial boarding schools. The event, held during the Losar festival, included prayers at Tsuglagkhang temple and featured calls for dialogue with China, reaffirmation of Tibet’s status as separate from China, and support for Tibetan cultural and religious rights. Participants from nations including Australia and Sri Lanka urged China to respect Tibetan freedoms, while the Central Tibetan Administration issued a declaration endorsing the Dalai Lama’s 2025 statement on reincarnation and calling for direct talks with Beijing.
