A nurse in Ireland was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a doctor during a night out in 2024, with the trial concluding in 2026.
A nurse at University Hospital Limerick was convicted of rape and sexual assault by a 31-year-old doctor, Louay Kila, after a four-day trial, following an incident during a night out in March 2024.
The victim, who remained anonymous, said she was forcibly kissed, digitally penetrated, and raped while asleep, despite repeatedly saying “no.” She described lasting trauma, including PTSD and depression, and was unable to work at the hospital where Kila continued practicing for months.

Kila denied the charges, claiming consent, but was suspended from the medical register in March 2025.
The nurse delivered a victim impact statement, stating she was holding him accountable and had achieved justice.
Sentencing was scheduled for March 13, with Kila remanded in custody.
