A 32-year-old Ipswich man was sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison for causing serious injury by dangerous driving after striking a Metropolitan Police officer in a December 11, 2025, hit-and-run crash.
The officer, in her 30s, sustained life-threatening injuries including a brain injury, fractured spine, and leg damage.
The suspect, who fled in a silver BMW 318i, was arrested after being found in a damaged vehicle and refused a drug test, while a breath test revealed alcohol levels over double the legal limit.
He also faced charges for driving without insurance, without a license, and under the influence.
The court heard he engaged in dangerous driving behaviors, including speeding and running red lights.
