The Louisiana Supreme Court has suspended Shreveport Judge Sheva Sims without pay for nine months over ethics violations, including releasing at least ten individuals charged with violent crimes on their own recognizance despite legal mandates requiring bond.
The ruling, issued on March 6, 2026, in case 2025-O-01449, was not unanimous, with two justices dissenting and one concurring in part.
Sims must also pay $5,801.28 in costs to the Judiciary Commission.
