Johor plans to require cross-border taxis to install tracking systems to comply with pick-up and drop-off rules, supporting expanded quotas and fare standardization.
Johor is considering requiring cross-border taxis from Singapore to install location tracking systems to ensure compliance with designated pick-up and drop-off points, aligning with Singapore’s ERP2 mandate for Malaysian taxis.
The move, part of a 2025 agreement, aims to improve enforcement and support expanded taxi quotas from 200 to 500.
Vehicles would need distinct livery, tamper-proof plates, and ERP2 units, with 12 key drop-off points proposed, including Senai Airport and JB Sentral.
Installation costs remain under discussion, and fare standardization is still being finalized.
