India’s NCB busted a drug ring smuggling hashish oil and charas from Nepal to Sri Lanka via India, arresting five and seizing 79.6 kg of narcotics.
India’s NCB dismantled a cross-border drug network moving narcotics from Nepal to Sri Lanka via India, seizing 77.6 kg of hashish oil and 2 kg of charas with a combined value of about ₹10 crore.
Five individuals, including a Sri Lankan refugee, were arrested in operations led by NCB units in Chennai and Hyderabad.
The drugs were smuggled through the Sonauli border, transported by road to Thoothukudi, and planned for sea shipment to Sri Lanka, where a fishing boat was intercepted near the International Maritime Boundary Line.
The mastermind, a Sri Lankan national, is believed to have orchestrated the scheme from abroad.
Vehicles and a fishing boat used in the trafficking were seized, and the investigation continues.
