A Bangladeshi man was extradited from Malaysia to Alaska to face federal charges for using fake social media identities to exploit teenage girls.

A 28-year-old Bangladeshi man, Zobaidul Amin, was brought from Malaysia to Alaska in March 2026 to face federal charges for allegedly using fake social media identities to deceive hundreds of teenage girls into sending explicit images. Prosecutors say he threatened to distribute the images unless victims complied, shared them online, and bragged about causing psychological harm. The case began after a 14-year-old Alaska girl reported abuse, prompting a U.S. investigation that uncovered a widespread pattern of exploitation. Despite being in Malaysia, Amin was arrested there, released on bail, expelled, and taken into FBI custody for transfer to the U.S., where he pleaded not guilty. A federal judge ordered him held without bail.
