On International Women's Day, Asmitaben Patel from Gujarat’s Soldhara village is honored for building a Rs 10.2 lakh annual income business through her women’s self-help group, Sahyadri Sakhi Mandal.
Inspired by her father and supported by her in-laws, she gained skills in beekeeping and baking, then launched the group in 2015 with a Rs 15,000 revolving fund and a Rs 2 lakh loan.
The group produces natural foods and bamboo crafts, selling them at local and national SARAS fairs.
Recognized with Krishi Ratna and ATMA awards and meeting Prime Minister Modi three times, she exemplifies rural women’s empowerment through government schemes like NRLM and Mission Mangalam.
